Vision for Mayor of Yardley

As Mayor, I will honor the role’s responsibility to preserve order, enforce our ordinances, and direct the activities of the police department. While the Borough Code limits the Mayor’s legislative powers, it empowers the office to be a unifying and proactive force in public safety, emergency response, and community well-being.

My vision for this role is rooted in partnership, preparedness, and progress:

Partnership with Police and Council

The Mayor serves as the direct link between our community and its police force. I will build a strong Mayor–Chief partnership that ensures day-to-day operations are aligned with the Borough Council’s oversight of budget and policy. Together, we will prioritize community policing practices and creative solutions to budget creep so that every resident continues to feel both protected and respected.

Proactive Emergency Management

Yardley is no stranger to emergencies—from floods to power outages to public safety concerns. I will lead a re-envisioned approach to emergency response that goes beyond reaction and focuses on prevention and communication. This means:

  • Clear and timely communication with residents during crises.

  • Borough-wide education on floodplain realities, responsibilities, and resources.

  • Developing systems that provide clarity and confidence in how Borough leadership manages disasters, large and small.

Advancing Opportunities Through In-House Grant Writing

Although the Mayor does not vote on Council matters, I see this as an opportunity to serve as an “eighth arm” of Council—supporting ideas born in Council chambers and within the police department by pairing them with funding opportunities. Drawing on my experience in grant writing and strategic planning, I will continue the Borough’s progress in bringing resources home to Yardley without overburdening taxpayers.

Public Presence and Business Support

The Mayor is the most visible face of Yardley government. I will be an active, public-facing leader (present at community events, accessible to residents, and supportive of local businesses). That support extends beyond ribbon cuttings: it means listening to business owners, helping to troubleshoot challenges, and fostering an environment where small businesses thrive as part of the Borough’s identity and economy.

A Mayor Focused on What Matters Most

With freedom from day-to-day Council business, I can devote my energy to the responsibilities that fall squarely within the Mayor’s role: public safety, order, and emergency readiness. My vision is for Yardley to be a Borough where residents feel secure, informed, and proud of the community we are building together.
